What Is Remy Hair?
The term ‘Remy’ is used as a way of measuring hair extension quality. Many clients use the word Remy but do not understand the meaning. Remy is the description of how the hair has been collected from the donor in the first instance. As the hair grows from your scalp, the cuticles lay flat and overlap each other all going in the same direction. This is called ‘cuticle correct’ or ‘cuticle aligned’. Remy human hair is the best hair to purchase. If your hair extensions are cuticle correct, this will dramatically reduce matting and tangling.
NON Remy Hair is human hair collected from multiple sources. Non-remy hair is collected from the floor of temples and hair salons. Cuticle directions become mixed, causing tangling and matting. To disguise this the hair will go through an acid bath to completely strip the cuticle, similar to relaxing your hair about a dozen times. This will cause matting, tangling and shedding. It is still 100% Human hair but it has has no care taken on collection or where it has come from.
